Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy used primarily to treat problems that arise within the muscles and joints of the body. A detailed case history is taken and an orthopaedic examination is carried out to determine the diagnosis and contributing factors. Treatment then most commonly involves a tailored mixture of massage, stretching, manipulation, exercise prescription and advice.
Sports massage is a form of deep massage, often used as part of a training routine to help avoid injury and aid recovery. You don't however need to be sporty to benefit from this deep massage, lots of clients use it simply as a way of relaxing tight, tired muscles.
PILATES ONE TO ONE
We offer private Pilates sessions for those who feel they want to focus on a specific training area or that require a little more attention. Pilates is a great way of improving strength, flexibility and endurance in all muscle groups, making for a more comfortable, injury free you.
We currently hold three classes, all on Tuesday mornings at 9.00am, 10.15am and 11.30am. Classes are suitable for all abilities and are limited to a maximum of 5 in a class.
As part of our osteopathy sessions we are able to offer Western Medical Acupuncture. We most commonly use this for acute injuries or chronically tight muscles. Our patients find it gives increased pain relief and helps to relax muscles.
Available as part of either an osteopathy session or a sports massage we use Kinesio tape to provide support and aid healing of an area.
I qualified as an osteopath in 2010, prior to which I had trained as a sports massage therapist. My passion is treating acute injuries, in particular sports related injuries, and so partly due to this I also trained as a Pilates teacher in 2013.
I find the three modalities work brilliantly in conjunction with each other and love the diversity it brings to my work.
I discovered osteopathy after a horse riding accident in which I fractured a number of areas in my spine. Osteopathy helped massively, and still does, with keeping my back pain free and as mobile as possible. Pilates was also a big part of my recovery.
I regularly attend training events to keep up to date with the latest information and am registered and fully insured.
In my 'spare' time I am a mummy to two little people and a keen runner.
